The commune is situated at the extremity of the County. It is one of the largest communes.

Inhabitants: 2 024 (Romanians, 106 Ukrainians, 178 Germans).
History
The first time the existence was mentioned was when the monks of
Putna wrote in
1629 that when
Miron Barnovschi Movilă had to leave to take the throne of
Moldova “found the country like without master, plundered by tartars and robbers, that left
Suceviţa only with stone, and others in
Cârlibaba and monastery that sit in great fear”.
The first time it was mentioned to give it its name was in 1595 from the letter of Suceava’s nobelman Mihaly Tolnay.
