The Ciocanesti commune is situatet in Suceava County at 900 m altitude.

Inhabitants: 1 930 (Romaninans, 6 Germans).
History
The name Ciocanesti comes from the “ciocanari” (blacksmith) from the times of the hospodars - from Bogdan I, 1359 (the first hospodar of Moldova), Dragos Voda, Alexandru cel Bun to Stefan cel Mare. The “ciocanari” used to make weapons used to defend the land.
The most precious jewel of this land was and will be forever the fir and spruce fir forest rich in fauna.
The hospitality of the people is well known not losing the identity over the passing centuries.
