Historical cocumentation: 1490, March 15. In “The Great Geographical Dictionary of Romania” it is told about Fălticeni that it is founded by Ioniţă Başotă in 1780, through the word of Constantin Moruzi Hospodar, in 8 August, and that after founding, the Şoldăneşti fair (Fălticeni of today), was populated by people from Baia that ran from a great flood of Moldova river (there is no historical proof of that).
Fălticeni is a transformation of villages that existed since 1400. The name was changed from Şoldăneşti in Fălticeni in1836 after the name of the estate: Fălticenii Vechi.
